What Is DSA?
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is a grassroots, member-led organization whose goal is to build a mass socialist movement.
What We Do
Electoral campaigns, community-focused mutual aid programs, study groups — our members are working to build the socialist future.
How to Get Involved
Our monthly general meetings are open to the public, and we have a constantly updating slate of events going on across Maine and online!
We are not a political party, but rather a group of community members working to build a mass movement for democratic socialism. We are powered and organized entirely by our membership and our funding comes from our thousands of members. The work we do as a chapter is decided by and organized by members, not by wealthy donors, political parties, or a board of directors.
Our Vision is that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.
